Raising Kids With Big, Baffling Behaviors: A Course for Parents (Adoption Specific)
✨ 10 weeks of small group support + private coaching, focused on adoption ✨
Thursdays, April 10—June 19
4:30-6:15PM Pacific on Zoom
We’ll cover practical tools for navigating behaviors and needs that come with parenting both highly sensitive and high-intensity kids, with attention to regulation, connection, anxiety, easing stuck spots, and repairing upsets.
Whether your kids were adopted as infants or older kids, we’ll explore how pre-natal development, transgenerational stress, and heritable traits are powerful nervous system influences for all of us humans. From there, we’ll get curious about how the dance of co-regulation and attachment is different with each of your kids and literally changes their brain through coping skills, attunement, and surges in development.
I'll teach about the brain science of behavior, share practical tools that help shift out of conflict and overwhelm, tips for advocacy at school, and TONS of support for you.
This is not a therapy or process group; instead, we’ll focus on nervous system education, child development, understanding neurodiversity, decoding BIG behaviors, and knowing what tools to use when.
We will not be approaching parenting from a perspective of diagnosis or assessment, though it offers a wonderful supplement to work you may be doing with other professionals (occupational therapy, psychotherapy, or tutoring).
Many families who’ve completed this course have expressed how helpful it’s been in navigating power struggles, tracking sensitivities and responding differently, understanding traits of neurodivergence, unwinding demand avoidance/PDA, and soothing the stress of supporting medical and special needs; many of these real-life dynamics are not reflected in traditional parenting books/philosophies and not adequately addressed in most school settings.
This course was created by Robyn Gobbel, host of The Baffling Behavior Show. I will joyfully tailor the content and examples to families attending. Your questions are welcome every time we meet.
