Raising Kids With Big, Baffling Behaviors: A Course for Parents
✨ 10 weeks of small group support + private parent coaching ✨
Wednesdays, April 2-June 11
4:30PM-6:15PM Pacific on Zoom
1hr 45min weekly, for the rest of the school year!
We’ll cover practical tools for navigating behaviors and needs that come with parenting both highly sensitive and high-intensity kids, with attention to regulation, connection, anxiety, easing stuck spots, and repairing upsets.
What does a special focus on ADHD mean?!
I regularly hear from families who are navigating confusing dynamics in everyday tasks…
- irritability and high sensitivity that make communication difficult
- transitions that end in meltdowns…or deep resistance before they can even begin
- automatic “No” responses…even to things their kid will likely/has recently LOVED!
- troubles settling for sleep, night wetting, and/or high anxiety during the day
- defiance or aggressive reactions to reasonable requests
These are all common in kids with high-revving energy and novelty-seeking behaviors. These traits often coincide with intensified tantrums or rigid demands, difficulty regulating emotions, and difficulty following directions. And they all have something in common: These are features of a neurodevelopmental condition; ADHD is a neurotype that requires adaptations in the environment, intentional communication strategies, and regulation skills to ease overwhelm and make new strategies more accessible.
Good news! I really get this neurotype, because I live it! I’ll bring my personal and professional tools to supporting you in this series, built on a curriculum I’ve been teaching since 2023.
I'll teach about the brain science of behavior, share practical tools that help shift out of conflict and overwhelm, tips for advocacy at school, and TONS of support for you.
This is not a therapy or process group; instead, we’ll focus on nervous system education, child development, understanding neurodiversity, decoding BIG behaviors, and knowing what tools to use when.
We will not be approaching parenting from a perspective of diagnosis or assessment, though it offers a wonderful supplement to work you may be doing with other professionals (occupational therapy, psychotherapy, or tutoring).
Many families who’ve completed this course have expressed how helpful it’s been in navigating power struggles, sensory issues, learning challenges, understanding traits of neurodivergence, PDA, and medical and special needs; many of these real-life dynamics are not reflected in traditional parenting books/philosophies and not adequately addressed in most school settings.
This course was created by Robyn Gobbel, host of The Baffling Behavior Show. I will joyfully tailor the content and examples to families attending. Your questions are welcome every time we meet.
