Brains in Bloom (Alumni)
Join me for a 3-week series, LIVE on Zoom
9AM-10:30 Pacific, Mondays, September 28, October 5 + 12
This workshop is all about the neurobiology of behavior—we’ll create a flexible map for making sense of stuck spots and finding paths to easing intensity.
It’s Part I of the Raising Kids With Big, Baffling Behaviors series with NEW content!
Here’s what you can expect:
Over 3 weekly sessions, we’ll tour the nervous system and really understand how kids’ physiology and emotions get wired together.
First, I’ll encourage you to become the expert in your child’s behavior, inviting curiosity and new connections around their motivations and needs that might be fueling them.
Then, we’ll bridge those insights to make sense of baffling behaviors, predicting when they show up, what amplifies or settles them, and what those behaviors may be communicating.
Before we wrap, I’ll share some flexible resources for expanding your toolbox, shifting how you respond, and teaching your kids about their own brains—so you and they have more options for meeting needs that feel so insistent.
Bring your burning questions about confusing kid behaviors and Ask Me Anything! We’ll have time for Q+A each time we meet.
What is your child’s behavior telling you?
What helps them, and you, stay more regulated and less overwhelmed?
How do you access a sense of connection—especially in tough moments?
What non-verbal cues and clues does your child give about their challenges, energy, or needs—even when they can’t use their words?
We can understand BIG behaviors by looking under the surface—to see what’s happening in the body, mind and nervous system—so you can move beyond rewards and consequences, toward more regulation and connection, spending way less energy guessing what’s going on.
Here’s our format:
(3) 90-min small group sessions via Zoom
A flexible, portable shift in perspective to help diffuse intensity
Ways to boost compassion and empathy—even in the midst of stress
Awareness of your own regulation needs in tough moments
Discussion of relational, emotional, and regulation aspects of behavior
Q+A every session, so you can adapt the info to your family
Multi-media resources ti support different learning styles
This workshop series WILL BE recorded. One stellar benefit of joining us live is a chance for Q+A each time we meet to start personalizing this info and practice decoding your child’s biggest behaviors. Price is per family—so your partner, co-parent, or an involved grandparent can join us at no extra cost.
Important note about this series:
This is Part I (Neurobiology of Behavior) of the 10-week parent course I teach on Raising Kids With Big, Baffling Behaviors. It provides a lovely foundation for responding differently and updating expectations within the context of brain-body development—which can be awesome for school advocacy, integrating a new diagnosis (like ADHD, Autism, anxiety, or PDA traits), and shifting your own response in stressful moments.
If you’ve already done the full curriculum, I can wholeheartedly recommend this update! It’s a way to dip back into the material, and everyone will benefit from a group that has both new folks and alumni who’ve already been working with these tools.
This course was created by Robyn Gobbel, host of The Baffling Behaviors Show podcast; I’m teaching it under license to do so, and will joyfully tailor the series for families attending.
Confidentiality
An added note for families who’ve worked with me previously, I won’t reference things from our 1:1 conversations, nor acknowledge any therapy relationship, as confidentiality is an important commitment to our work. You are certainly welcome to share to your own level of comfort about what brings you to the group and openly ask questions in our discussions. Together, we’ll establish group agreements to create a sturdy space for everyone’s support.
Equity Values + Terms
Please reach out with any questions before you enroll and review my Terms + Conditions and Anti-Oppression Action Plan.
I so value your input and would love to invite your feedback on the new course material. As an alumni of this course myself, I know the learning is on-going, and I’m so looking forward to revisiting these ideas with new examples, images, and your experience with these tools over time. In exchange for a complimentary seat in this cohort, I’ll ask you to let me know whether you will:
1) Attend live, with the option to participate in Q+A (always your choice), or
2) Watch the replay and complete a feedback survey at the end of the series
I’m especially looking forward to this series, as I lean into creating more things for us to do together!
