Brains in Bloom

$88.00

Join me for a 3-week series on Zoom

10:30-12PM Pacific, Mondays, June 1, 8, 15

This workshop is all about the neurobiology of behavior—we’ll create a flexible a map for making sense of stuck spots and finding paths to easing intensity.

Relational neuroscience, attachment, psychology, and human development all point to observable behaviors as reflections of our internal experience. So—if you are parenting a kid with BIG behaviors, what must it be like for them on the INSIDE?

This course was created by Robyn Gobbel, host of The Baffling Behavior Show podcast—another awesome resource for more about this approach.

Here’s what you can expect:

Over 3 weekly sessions, we’ll tour the nervous system and really understand how our physiology and emotions get wired together.

First, I’ll encourage you to become the expert in your child’s behavior and invite your curiosity and new connections around their motivations and needs that might be fueling them.

Next, we’ll bridge those insights toward making sense of baffling behaviors, including when they show up, what amplifies or settles them, and what those behaviors may be communicating.

Before we wrap, I’ll share a bunch of resources for expanding your toolbox, shifting how you respond, and teaching your kids about their own brains—so you and they have more options for meeting needs that feel so insistent.

Bring your burning questions about confusing kid behaviors and Ask Me Anything!

  1. What is your child’s behavior telling you?

  2. What helps them, and you, stay more regulated and less overwhelmed?

  3. How do you find a sense of connection—especially in tough moments?

  4. What non-verbal cues and clues does your child give about their challenges, energy, or needs?

We can understand BIG behaviors by looking under the surface—to see what’s happening in the body, mind and nervous system—so you can move beyond rewards and consequences, toward more regulation and connection.

What to expect:

  • (3) 90-min small group sessions via Zoom

  • A flexible, portable shift in perspective to help diffuse intensity

  • Ways to boost compassion and empathy—even in the midst of stress

  • Awareness of your own regulation needs in tough moments

  • Discussion of relational, emotional, and regulation aspects of behavior

  • Q+A every session, so you can adapt the info to your family

  • Multi-media resources ti support different learning styles

This workshop series WILL BE recorded. One stellar benefit of joining us live is a chance for Q+A each time we meet. Price is per family.

Important note about this series:

This is Part I (Neurobiology of Behavior) of the 10-week parent course I teach on Raising Kids With Big, Baffling Behaviors. It provides a lovely foundation for responding differently and updating expectations within the context of brain-body development—which can be awesome for school advocacy, integrating a new diagnosis (like ADHD, Autism, anxiety, or PDA), and shifting your own response in stressful moments.

I expect to offer Part II in this series (Brain & Body Based Strategies to Change Baffling Behaviors PLUS Stress Coping for Busy Parents) later this Summer; Part I will be a prerequisite for both.

All elements of this course were created by Robyn Gobbel, host of The Baffling Behaviors Show podcast; I’m teaching them under license to do so, and will joyfully tailor them for families attending.
